Don’t Forget Mom on Her Special Day

There are 5.7 million female golfers in the United States, or 22 percent of the country’s golf population. A large percentage of the women who play golf are avid participants and, like their male counterparts, they delight in receiving golf-related gifts on special occasions.
There’s a very special occasion in May. Mother’s Day is on the 13 th and that can be a very lucky day for the lady in your life who cherishes golf as much as you do. In honor of Mother’s Day, we offer some suggestions for popular gift choices for women and while you are shopping at the Golf Headquarters near you, it’s a great opportunity to explore the new 2012 lines and find something that will bolster your game.
Adams Golf’s Idea a12 OS irons are a hit whether they’re being used by men or women. Adams’ hybrid lines have been respected and honored for many years and the a12 OS set is at the top of the class.
The women’s a12 OS irons are specifically engineered with a thin-face construction to produce more ball speed and more distance. Additional perimeter weighting turns mis-hits into playable shots and a low, deep center of gravity launches the ball high from any lie. The hybrid set features Velocity Slot Technology for substantial improvement in forgiveness. At the same time, it enhances spring-like effect across the entire face of the hybrids.
This is a set of irons worth exploring at your Golf Headquarters store, whether it’s for your significant other or for yourself.

Callaway’s Solaire Resonates With Women

Callaway’s Solaire premium set for women has it all. The set is comprised of an all-titanium driver, 3 stainless steel fairway woods, 3 hybrids, 2 irons, 3 wedges, a putter and a versatile cart bag.
Callaway’s designers have worked hard over the years to find what the company calls an Energy Efficient Design to optimize all the features in the set with the goal of improving the performance of a woman’s swing characteristics. That helps elevate a golfer’s confidence.
The fairway woods and hybrid have clubfaces designed with a flat roll radius, for a higher launch angle for shots hit low on the face. Callaway’s team of research and development experts studied a wide range of women’s swings to design clubs with lengths, weights and lofts that are ideally suited to give women more distance, better accuracy and unprecedented forgiveness. The increased hosel offset also helps to square the clubface at impact while providing a look at address that boosts confidence.

Find the Right Ball for Mom

The same attention to detail and design is incorporated in Callaway’s Solaire golf balls, which are constructed to enhance performance for golfers with slower swing speeds.
A soft, resilient core, formulated specifically for extra carry and distance, gives women the additional yardage from tee-to-green. A low compression core produces soft feel off the clubface and Callaway’s HEX Aerodynamics provides efficient ball flight which translates into more distance. A luminous finish adds flair.
The Lady IQ+ golf ball is a favorite among women golfers because of its soft feel and solid distance qualities produced by a new, larger core. A new pearl finish – available in clear, pink and white - is popular among women because it adds a sense of fashion. Precept says increased climb characteristics keep the ball in the air longer. Seamless Cover Technology™ facilitates a consistent ball flight.

Rockin’ the RBZ for Women

The RocketBallz phenomenon continues and, yes, the popular TaylorMade line is available for women.
The Rescue™ is available in the RBZ 65-L shaft. The company says the sole-positioned Speed Pocket is the ultimate springboard for distance. Combined with the lightweight shaft and grip, a low center of gravity promotes launch for increased ball speed. Plus, the matte white oversized head makes launch and alignment easy.
TaylorMade’s technologies have created what the company calls its “most extreme irons ever.” The RBZ Max irons, available for women, are lighter and longer. They feature ultra-thin faces for faster ball speed and longer distance. Tungsten sole weighting maximizes energy transfer and a draw-bias incorporated in the structure of the irons helps cure slices. Here is a simple truth: When the ball goes straighter, it goes farther.
The women’s RBZ Max irons are available with Matrix Program graphite shafts in the long irons and KBS Satin Steel shafts for accuracy and control in the mid and short irons.

Smokin’ Hot Putters from TaylorMade

The much-anticipated Smoke Putters from TaylorMade, now available at Golf Headquarters, incorporate the white crown that has become a focal point of the company’s design concepts in all clubs.
The white crown eliminates glare and creates a highly effective contrast with the grass for better and easier aiming. Three clear black alignment lines on the crown reinforce the alignment. A Surlyn PureRoll insert promotes a smooth, accurate roll and pleasing soft feel. The Smoke Putters are available in three very popular models.

The Dream Golf Trip

You’ve been planning it for a long time. It might be to Scotland or Ireland or another much-anticipated destination that gets the golf juices flowing. What you don’t want to do is mess it up by being unprepared.
Here are several quick tips to maximize your enjoyment. If you need a few more, don’t hesitate to ask the folks at your Golf Headquarters store. They’ll be happy to offer advice and suggestions, and help you implement your master plan.
1. Balls. Take plenty. Especially if this is your first trip to one of golf’s meccas and you’re unfamiliar with heather and gorse. If you’re just a bit off, the conditions in Scotland and Ireland (including wind) can swallow up golf balls. And they’re expensive abroad. Better to buy them at home.
2. A spare club. It’s not a bad idea to take an extra club from an older set, a club with maximum utility like a 5-iron or a 7-iron in the event you land in places from which you don’t want to use and perhaps damage the premium models you’re taking with you. Don’t want to wrap a shiny new iron around a gorse bush.
3. Two pairs of golf shoes. Rely on shoes that are most comfortable. A golf trip to where you will be expecting to walk most of the holes you play is no place to break in new shoes. Blisters are not a good thing when you’re walking a lot.
4. Gloves. Those new rain gloves work and are worth an investment. Check them out at your Golf Headquarters. Mizuno and Foot-Joy are just a couple of manufacturers who offer excellent rain glove options.
5. Travel light but be prepared for all weather contingencies. Take a variety of clothes regardless of the season. Think more about function than style.

Parting Shot

“It's how you see the shots and how you play the game. When you're true to that, that's when you're going to play your best golf. I think that's what we can all take away from watching Bubba play. Can we play like Bubba? No. I'm not sure anybody can play like Bubba. But I just found it so interesting to watch the guy play, and as long as he continues to play that way, he's going to play great. Your swing is just one of the tools in your tool box. Find your swing, stick with it and learn how to execute.” – Champions Tour rookie Kirk Triplett, the man with the bucket hat, on the lessons to be learned by Bubba Watson’s victory in the Masters.
